Kraliçe Kleopatra
18 yaşında kraliçe oldu. Birçok yabancı dilden felsefeye, retorikten gök bilimine pek çok dalda eğitim aldı; Roma'nın en ünlü önderlerine, Doğulu kadının gücünü gösterdi. Sevdiğinde ise tüm varlığını verdi.
Romalılar Kleopatra'yı hiç sevmediler. Onu J. Caesar, Marcus Antonius, Octavianus gibi önderlerini baştan çıkartan, kötülüklerin anası, Mısırlılaşmış Yunanlı kadın olarak suçladılar.
Kleopatra çağında Batı, buyurgan Romalı erkeklerin tefecilik ve siyaset arenası; Doğu ise, üretken ana tanrıçaların ve kraliçelerin egemen olduğu zengin bir dünyaydı. Yarı çıplak zarif bedenleriyle, ağır zırhlar içinde korunan Batılı savaşçıların üzerilerine yalın kılıçla dalan kadın savaşçı Amazonlar, Doğu’nun simgesi değil miydi?
Kilikya'da Olba Kraliçesi Aba, Halikarnas'ta Mausolos'un dul eşi Kraliçe Artemisis, Karya'da granitten Alinda kentini kuran Kraliçe Ada, Suriye'de Palmira Kraliçesi Zenobia ve Mısır Kraliçesi Kleopatra, Doğu monarşilerinin birer yıldızı değiller miydi?
Kleopatra ile Marcus Antonius birlikteliğinde önemli nokta; Antonius’un en zayıf yönü, çevresindekilere fazla güvenip, yanıldığını anladığında çok büyük pişmanlık duymasıydı.
